A Sage Relay is a small module that converts a standard LED luminaire into an emergency-capable fixture powered by central battery. Sage offers six variants because different fixtures need different power outputs.
What a Sage Relay does
A Sage Relay sits inside (or beside) a standard LED luminaire. In normal operation, the luminaire runs from the building's AC power as usual. When AC power fails, the relay instantly switches the luminaire to a low-voltage DC feed from a central battery system, keeping the LEDs on at a controlled brightness for the required 90-minute emergency duration.
Why six different SR variants
Different LED fixtures draw different amounts of normal-mode power. A Sage Relay must be sized correctly for the host fixture. Sage offers six SR-series variants to cover the practical range:
- SR1 — Compact fixtures. Normal-mode 10-70W LED; emergency output 5-22W factory adjustable. Output voltage range 5-22V (V3 only).
- SR2 — Small-to-medium fixtures. Normal-mode 10-70W LED; emergency output 5-20W. Output voltage auto-sense up to 54V (V1 27-54, V2 5-41, V3 5-22).
- SR3 — Downlights, 2x2 / 2x4 lay-in panels, flat-panel LED. Normal-mode 10-70W+ LED; emergency output 5-22W. Output voltage auto-sense up to 100V (V1 27-54, V2 5-41, V3 5-22).
- SR6 — Same V-range as SR3 but narrower emergency output. Normal-mode 10-70W LED; emergency output 5-20W. Auto-sense up to 54V. J-box mount available.
- SR7 — High-bay fixtures. Normal-mode 50-400W+ LED; emergency output 15-60W factory adjustable. Up to 4-channel output. Output voltage V1 60-210VDC (100-290 mA). Optional 347/480VAC input (HV).
- SR03 — Highest-power applications. Emergency output X watts (factory adjustable per lumen requirement). Output voltage V1 27-64V, V2 27-86V, V3 27-126V. CHX channels and FL flange screw mount options.
Factory-installed vs. field-installed
Sage Luminaires (general lighting with optional Sage Relay) ship from the factory with the relay pre-installed and pre-wired — these arrive ready to connect to a central battery system. Standalone Sage Relay (SR-series) modules are available for retrofitting an existing third-party LED luminaire to operate with central battery emergency power.
How SR-series selection works
Specifiers and agents do not self-select SR modules. Sage's engineering team picks the appropriate SR variant for each project opportunity based on the host fixture's normal-mode wattage, voltage, and the overall emergency-system architecture. The spec sheet documents the full SR range for reference; the final SR SKU lands in the submittal package Sage delivers with the project.
